2006 Faculty Bios

Peter Tambroni is a bassist, conductor, string teacher, and photographer in suburban Chicago. He holds degrees from the Crane School of Music and the University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign. Peter currently teaches elementary and middle school strings for Mannheim School District 83. He has performed both with orchestras and as a soloist in New York State and Illinois. In the fall of 2000 he appeared on national television with the Bozo Super Sunday Show. He has recorded for Mode Records of New York City and continues to perform around Chicago and its suburbs. Peter is a former faculty member of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and for the past 8 years has taught at the Crane School of Music¹s summer youth program. He has been published several times in the international journal American String Teacher and on EnergyAddict.com, the website of best-selling author, Jon Gordon. Peter also maintains a private studio in Oak Park, IL and coordinates a bass club in his school district.

Greg Sarchet (Sar-shay) has had an array of musical experiences and training, from studying with his first teacher, jazz luminary Rufus Reid, to receiving his degrees from the Juilliard School, to hundreds of television/radio commercial recordings. His ongoing international exchange efforts have been recognized with two Chicago Artists International Program awards, which sent him to the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria , Hungary, and Great Britain for performances, masterclasses, and archival research. He is a member of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and for over 10 years has served on the faculties of Northwestern University, Northeastern Illinois University, and Northern Illinois University.

A native of South Dakota, Jason began playing with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and Sioux City Symphony Orchestra at the age of fifteen. Jason serves as co-principal bass of the IRIS Chamber Orchestra, assistant principal bass of the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra and as a section bass member of the Elgin Symphony. He also regularly performs with Chicago Opera Theater, Chicago Sinfonietta, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, and the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra. Jason has toured internationally with the American-Russian Young Artists Orchestra, Pacific Music Festival, and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, and he has also performed with the Spoleto USA Festival, Britt Music Festival, and Des Moines Metro Opera. He has worked with many leading conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Michael Tilson Thomas, Charles Dutoit, Nemme Jarvi, and Mstislav Rostropovich.
